TFC Testimonial: Rob Assise
When Tony Holler and Chris Korfist decided to bring back an in-person Track Football Consortium to Chicago this winter, I was extremely excited. Calendar conflicts did not let me allow me to attend the in-person events they hosted outside of Illinois over the past couple of years.
I attended TFC-1 in 2015 as a 33 year-old coach who was comfortable but curious. From the first session on Friday afternoon through the last on Saturday evening, my curiosity was fed! Tony, Chris, and TFC regulars Dan Fichter, Cal Dietz, and Joel Smith all provided me with huge take-aways, and, more importantly, items to investigate further.
Since 2015, I have attended over 10 TFC’s, and I have been amazed at how much the presentations have accelerated my learning. Upon further reflection, a HUGE part of this acceleration has been the network I have become a part of. This network holds infinitely more value than the events themselves. One regular thought I have is how I wish TFC began when I was 23 instead of 33 – I certainly would have avoided some faulty paths and would have provided better service to hundreds of student-athletes!
In 2015 I was an introverted, curious coach. While both of these are still true, I have developed the courage to share my thoughts via writing and presentations. TFC has been a significant contributor in developing, and providing opportunities to test, that courage. No matter what stage of your career, I cannot recommend becoming a part of the TFC community enough!
